Statistics and Applied Improvisation: Strange but Necessary Bedfellows

Applied improvisation? What does this have to do with statistics? A fair question, since the two topics could not be more different. But these diametrically opposed topics are exactly why statisticians and data scientists need exposure to applied improvisation! For scientists, perhaps even more so for statistical scientists, the thought of doing anything without preparation can be discomforting. In this talk, I describe the personal and professional benefits of applied improvisation for practitioners of statistics.
